  Comprehensive Financial Management

Pillar is a unique financial advisory company. We have made a commitment to do one thing, and do it very well. And that is to provide comprehensive financial planning and management to a limited number of families in the Louisville area.

We are trained and authorized to use a special process called Values Based Financial Planning. It’s special in that it is proven to not only to help you meet your financial goals, but to give you a great deal of clarity about the real payoff, living a life where you focus on your core values.

Values Based Financial Planning begins with a fun and enjoyable experience, the creation of your Financial Road Map. At your Financial Road Map meeting, we will have an exploration of what’s important to you, define and prioritize your important financial goals in a way that you have never experienced before, and organize and benchmark your current financial reality so that you can decide if you want us in your life to make your Financial Road Map a reality, and so that we can decide if you fit in our community.

If together we decide that you will join our community, the next step is our creation of your written financial strategy, an essential component to your financial success. All financial decisions will be made within the structure of this strategy. Your written financial strategy is a step-by-step plan covering the following main areas:

Cash Reserves – a strategy to ensure that you have sufficient reserves to be used in case of emergency (loss of job, unforeseen major expenses, etc.).

Debt Management – a strategy to reduce/eliminate your debt.

Risk Management – a strategy to ensure that risks that can be insured are either insured by a third party (insurance company) or are consciously self-insured.

Growth and Investments – a strategy designed to give you the highest confidence of reaching all of your financial goals, when you want to reach them.

Our second meeting together is to review your written financial strategy and begin its implementation.

Our role in your life after the initial implementation of your financial strategy is financial management, guidance and coaching so that you are continually making progress towards your goals. Our ongoing role in your life includes (but is not limited to):

Full Time Investment Management – A significant part of your written financial strategy is the investment strategy. We are responsible for ensuring that your investment portfolio is efficiently managed in accordance with your written strategy.

Periodic Review – We are going to meet several times per year. The purpose of these meetings is not to dwell on all the things we can’t control (the stock market, the economy, Alan Greenspan) and find someone to blame for our problems. We are going to meet for three reasons:

1. To measure the progress towards your goals so we can chart the most intelligent next steps to achieving them (the best you are probably getting now is a performance report. There is a BIG difference between a performance statement and a progress report).

2. To make sure that you have done what you agreed to do since our last meeting.

3. To make sure you are living a good life.

Ongoing Advice – We stand ready to advise you on anything financial. This means you can call, e-mail, or fax us anytime there is a radical change in your situation, or any time you think we might be able to answer a question, run some numbers, or simply listen. You are hiring a full-time advisor.

  The Cost

Most financial advisors in the marketplace today are compensated either through commissions paid to them when a product is sold, through investment management fees based on a percentage of investments being managed, or through a fee based on number of hours worked.

Our compensation structure is far superior to any of these in delivering value and conflict-free financial advice. We charge a flat fee for all services. While the fee is different for everyone, it is fully disclosed to you at the start of our relationship and represents 100% of the compensation that we receive. In most cases, the fees that we charge are substantially lower than what you are paying now, directly and indirectly.

We accept no commissions, referral fees, or any other compensation that could potentially create a conflict of interest.
